BUTTERFLY AND THE SUN
hands cupped over a swollen cacoon
as butterfly emerges soft, weightless,
wings unfurled, resting on top of air
floating effortlessly
through streams of currents
pushing further toward light
------------------------------
violets spray a misty glow
on guilted yellow wings
opened-wide and shimmering
mapping the way of a butterfly's path
into the Sun
slowly drifting along cool, clear angular corridor
sand thin, transluscent walls
-----------------------------
pushing foreward into brightness
bathed in the warm glow of white mist
She sways gently toward the allure of a naked eye
seduced in Salome's dance of a thousand veils
-----------------------------
floating majestically into a pool of gold
perched high on the verge of an horizon
a transparent wall divides the worlds
a line between death and life,
and life and death
There, a little girl adorns a monarch's wing
----------------------------
peeping curiously through a cylindrical hole
she climbs over and steps into a black- night
peppered brightly with stars
like honeycombs seeping nectar
tipping over the moon to pour into blackness
---------------------------
Her wings arched high then pinned back
as black molassas wash over a bare chest
extended wide and open
peeling body back to turn inside out
as space expands into space
into an enveloping cosmos
--------------------------
Stretching far and wide
drained empty to be made full
made big...
to breathe easy
hugged in an unfettered embrace
born of fading dreams
from an illusionary world
ever expanding into a conscious universe
-------------------------
riding on the back of a butterfly's wing
from her journey into the sun...
-------------------------
* Salome gain's her wish to demand the head of John the Baptist from King Herod. She performs the 'dance of a thousand veils' fulfilling her passion by kissing the dead lips of John's decapitated head.( mythologised in Oscar Wilde's Play 'Salome')
