Freda Kahlo...

Freda Khalo (1907-1954)was a Mexican painter of Amerindian and Spanish decent. Known for being a staunch Feminist, she saw her self as a politcal animal as an aritst foremost. She described herself as 'a ribbon around a bomb'.Her work is remembered for its 'pain and passion' and its intense, vibrant colors. Her work in Mexico is celebrated as being emblematic for being painted in its indigenous tradition and 'by feminists for its ucompromising depiction of the female experience and form.'
She often saw herself in alienation and alone much like within my own art and is done ,like myself, in some form of folk tradition. Many of her works consists of self portraits and of the 155 paintings that she did, 55 of them where of herself. They often depicted physical and psychological wounds. Kahlo was influenced by indigenous Mexican culture and painted with bright colors and symbolism. She combined classic Mexican religious tradition with the syle of the surrealists....
