The symbol of the egg is life affirming. It is synonymous with the womb and has similar connotations. It can be seen in many creation myths from a lot of Native American and indigenous earth cultures around the world that has the origins of life begginning with it. It often has woman as creatrix rather than a male god. I have encountered it by many female artists over the years who use it as a symbol as life giving and see themselves as natural healers. These symbols as not fixed in stone and some times as any artist will tell you, an egg may just mean an egg but i use it to illustrate the common usage linking cultural and personal myths. I use it to affrim healing by creation from a feminine ethos. It is also personal to me as woman...peace...
