A CORNY LOVE SONNET
to live and love and die a death
upon a sonnet's grace
I'd champion a word for you
and walk a lover's pace
my head would touch the pillow
my heart would touch you near
whispering golden rain drops
to fall softly in your ear
and should I ever fail a lyric
within this lover's pace
I'd ask you to forgive me more
within a lover's grace
and life would have no meaning
if I did not have you near
to whisper my sweet love to you
within a weary ear

The term "sonnet" derives from the Provencal word "sonet" and the Italian word "sonetto," both meaning "little song." ...
